Analemmatic sundial in
Torreón, Coahuila, México

March 2002: The analemmatic sundial under construction

Mr. Jesús Villanueva, a skilled stone worker, is preparing a piece of stone for the dial face. He gives it the right size and shape 'by eye', without any measurements.

The colorful sunrays are radiating outward. The date scale and most of the hour points are in place already. Also the day and night parts of the dial face show up. The space for the wind rose, at the south end of the date scale, can be seen. The disks showing the course of the terminator, the border between day and night, are about to be laid into the dial face at the east and west side.
