Analemmatic dials

Major axis 20 meter! Equation of time platform...

The website of Carl Sabanski has excerpts taken from the Skaha Solar Timepiece brochure. This should be the largest analemmatic dial by far: the major axis is as large as 20 meter (65 ft)! An impressive instrument! Fortunately, the date line has been elevated a bit, which stretches ones shadow somewhat.

Here again an analemma without a date line. An ineradicable misconception! The hour points are concrete posts, which read civil time (Pacific, in this case).

The brochure also reveals that "in 1506 A.D., the first analemmatic dial was designed by LeLande in Bourg en Bresse, France, where it still stands". Why not take a look in Brou yourself, I would say.
