Vertical dials

Vertical dial, Haren Vertical dials are classified according to their orientation (that is the direction they are facing): direct south dials, southeast declining dials, direct east dials, etc.
The hour line for local noon is always vertical, passing through the insertion point of the pole-style.
In direct east and west dials the pole-style is parallel to the dial face, so no noon line can be drawn.
Vertical dials are the most frequent dial type found in several countries (Germany, France, Austria).
